Latest Video: St Peter Catholic Church: Restoring the Sacred in Omaha

Here's our new video, shown this weekend:

New Video to be Played to Crowd of 9000!

We're excited to be wrapping up a ten minute video this week that will be played at the Qwest Center in Omaha on Saturday September 11th, as part of the event at which Fr. John Corapi will be the key speaker.

The event is to raise money for renovating St. Peter Catholic Church in Omaha and the video is a celebration of the parish, called "Restoring the Sacred in Omaha."

When complete we'll be sure to post the video on our youtube channel and in the screening room on this web site.

St. John Cantius Program Continues to Inspire on EWTN

Don just told me a cool story about how our St. John Cantius video touched one of our viewers.

There was this nice lady in NJ who was having trouble sleeping last week and got up to watch some EWTN. It turns out that they rebroadcasted our episode at 3 am or so, and she told Don that it really lifted her spirits. Their pastor was trying to restore the sacred in their parish and feeling frustrated so she called us and asked for 2 copies of the DVD, one for them and one for the priest.

Don sent her four copies, and asked her to say a prayer to her guardian angel and then give the third and fourth away to whoever she felt inspired to give them to.

Pretty cool.

UPDATE:As it turns out EWTN re-aired the program the next day at the more reasonable time of 6:30 pm ET. We received many calls and e-mails all requesting a copy of the program and offering donations, and we have been responding to those requests and sending out DVDs for several days now, more than 25 mailed already, with more to go. Thanks everyone for responding so favorably to our documentary on Saint John Cantius yet again.

By the way, Fr. Scott Haynes, CRSJC of Saint John Cantius calls this work of StoryTel, “a powerful tool for our parish’s revitalization and the work of our religious community! Fr. Haynes also called our documentary, “a decisive tool for attracting vocations, a video that clearly proclaims, who we are and what we do!” Excitedly, he also praised the documentary for its monetary contributions to their ministry.
More episodes on many more topics are in the works.

Busy week of filming

Last week we had a busy week of filming. We spent three full days filming a coprporate video for Performance Trust, and then on Thursday we filmed Fr. Peter Cook for our latest video "Restoring the Sacred in Omaha" (just a working title), which will be shown publicly in September. Thanks, Great Plains Motion Picture guys for all your help with the filming last week!

The shoot with Father went great too. Lots of good stuff. Too much, as usual, for this time-strapped video editor. But we look forward to showing off our work soon! Thanks for all the time, Fr. Cook!

Update - Corpus Christi Procession

The Corpus Christi procession went great! It was everything we hoped it would be. We've got some wonderful footage. Pictures coming soon!

Our Biggest Shoot Ever - The Corpus Christi Procession

StoryTel Foundation and the Great Plains Motion Picture Company will be out in full force this Sunday, June 6, 2010 to film a thousand men, women and children as they follow Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Omaha, Nebraska, in prayerful celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi.

Our crew will include a producer, a director of cinematography, a production manager, two audio engineers, four production assistants and three professional drivers who will maneuver three mini camera/equipment transport vehicles to assist six top notch camera operators armed with Pro HD Video Cameras, including two motion picture level cameras, as they shoot this traditional, religious and very photogenic event from every angle.

Why Are We Shooting This?

We're excited to announce this shoot begins production on an extremely high end, fast paced, investigative documentary look at the Real Presence. This new episode of ON ASSIGNMENT for EWTN will report on recent and past purported Eucharistic miracles while profiling what the Real Presence means to everyone from the Pope to the person in the pew. The Corpus Christi procession will tie all parts of our new documentary together.

More New Productions!

We are also developing an ON ASSIGNMENT that will document the restoration of the sacred at Saint Peter Church in Omaha. Another, shorter program on this same topic will be produced and shown on a huge screen to the many thousands of people who will turn out to see and hear Father John Corapi speak live and in person in Omaha on September 11th, 2010. Segments from the Corpus Christi procession will play key roles in both of these productions. And finally, EWTN would like us to produce an ON ASSIGNMENT segment that focuses solely on the Corpus Christi procession itself.

So You Can See Why I Say This is a crucial shoot for StoryTel. This is why we're pulling out all the stops. This one full day of shooting is essential to the success of two, and very important to the success of at least two more StoryTel productions. Plus images from this event will continue to find their way into our productions for many years to come.

Please Pray For Good Weather On Sunday, June 6th!

Clips of Archbishop Burke, from Upcoming On Assignment Episode

In our last post we told you about the video shoot we had that day with Archbishop Raymond Burke. That filming went extremely well, so well that tonight the Miles Christi priests will be showing some excerpts at a fund raising dinner.

Here's what will be shown:

The Pope May Watch Our Saint John Cantius DVD

Well, maybe.

This week Don and our film crew interviewed Archbishop Raymond Burke for a full hour for our in-progress episode of On Assignment about Miles Christi. The Archbishop, soon to be Cardinal, was recently appointed to the office of Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, a Vatican position equivalent to that of Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. So, just interviewing him at all was a big deal.

The shoot went well, and he even gave us more time to interview him for our longer term project about the Real Presence, since he also happens to be a board member and spiritual director for the Real Presence Eucharistic Education and Adoration Association.

Don told me that his mother made him promise to give the Archbishop a copy of our Saint John Cantius documentary, but Don decided to do one better. He gave him two DVDs. He asked him, if he thought it was good enough, to please give the second copy of the video to the Pope. Archbishop Burke said he would.

Cool, huh?
